Menu Board
Menus from the imperial Song Dynasty in China (960–1279 have been discovered offering a single course variety of cuisine from different regions. The modern menu, with dishes in a set order of courses, was invented by the humanitarian French chef Escoffier. He created hundreds of dishes named after both the obscure and the famous, but not one after his beloved wife! To name a few of these creations, Peach Melba (for Australian opera star Nellie Melba), Cherries Jubilee (for Queen Victoria's Jubilee) and Dauphine Potatoes (for the French court of the Dauphine and Marie Antoinette). Escoffier organised projects to feed the poor, donated unserved food to the impoverished elderly, and founded organisations to financially assist retired chefs.

To make a standing menu board, photocopy and laminate this page, add delectables using a pen or crayon which can be removed without harming the coating, then slip your menu board into a stand-up plate frame.
